Gateway Regional offers $1000 ‘Healthy Woman Healthy Mind Scholarship’
Area Senior High School Women invited to Submit Essay on:
“What does it mean to be a healthy woman. Why is it important to be a healthy woman?”
Granite City, IL, January 25, 2012…… Gateway Regional Medical Center announced today it is offering a $1000 scholarship through its popular Healthy Woman program. The scholarship will be awarded based on an essay contest that addresses, “What does it mean to be a healthy woman and why is it important to be a healthy woman?” The essay competition is open to senior women who attend Granite City High School, Madison High School, Marquette Catholic High School or Althoff Catholic High School and reside in Granite City, Madison or Venice. The submission deadline is March 30, 2012. The scholarship will be awarded June 3 at the Healthy Woman Anniversary Event.
“We are honored to reach out to the youth of our community and foster a healthier lifestyle,” said Kate Allaria, Director of Public Relations and Marketing. “The $1000 scholarship will recognize and reward a young woman in our community who successfully addresses what it means to be a healthy woman. The Healthy Woman program at Gateway Regional is just one way we can empower women in our community with the confidence to make informed health care decisions for themselves and their families and participate in free health education events.

1.Complete the Online Registration Form at gatewayregional.net/healthywoman
2. Submit a copy of your transcript from your counselor
3. Submit one letter of recommendation from a non-family, non-school official
4. Submit your essay that addresses, “What does it mean to be a healthy woman and why is it important to be a healthy woman?”- 1000 Word Minimum.

Eligibility Requirements:
Female high school seniors with 3.5 or higher GPA who live in zip codes: 62040, 62060, or 62090 and attend one of these high schools; Marquette Catholic High School, Althoff Catholic High School, Madison High School, or Granite City High School
